Button – iPhone App
I am a simple man. I like simple things. When it comes to games on the iPhone then you can’t get much more simple than Button by Blank SoftwareTo play Button you start the app. Wait until the button lights up. Press the button. That’s it. You get points every time you press the button – referred to as Button Thermal Units or BTU’s. OK that’s not quite all of it. You see the thing is that when you press the button, everyone else in the world who is playing the game presses the button. You can sign up to have your score posted on a leader board which shows you the top ten as well as your position. As I write I am number 411th with 7230 BTU’s. the current leader is ClicCool with a staggering 454,920. Some people really do have nothing better to do with their lives!

Press the Button
The interesting thing about Button is that there are some articles which claim that Button will make you better at your job? How? To be honest I have no idea! The game is at best annoyingly addictive for no apparent reason and at worst a complete waste of time. My slightly paranoid self imagines that it is part of a giant psychological experiment to profile large sections of society in one easy move. Every time I play, a computer is analysing how long it took me to press the button, what colour of buttons I press most often / quickest, (there are different coloured buttons and more skins are promised in future) what time of day I play as well as generating and analysing a normal distribution of where on the button I press. Like I said – paranoid.
Of course the comparisons with the LOST TV series have been drawn, where certain members of the survivors find an underground bunker and are conned into entering a code every 108 minutes. (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42). Although I don’t recall advertising at the bottom of the screen.
As noted before, Blank Software hope to provide more skins for the game as well as offering real cash prizes, so I guess I can put up with a little advertising. in the meantime, I’m chasing Tosti who’s on 7420 BTU’s. I’m now 405th with 7390!
